The 2026 Empowerment Gala Is Set to Be One of Philadelphia’s Biggest Nights of Celebration, Culture & Community Impact

Every year, the Empowerment Gala brings together some of the region’s most influential leaders, advocates, creatives, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, elected officials, and community change makers for a night that feels bigger than a traditional gala.



It is a celebration of culture. A celebration of legacy. A celebration of the work happening every single day across Greater Philadelphia to move communities forward. And this year’s event is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and unforgettable evenings in recent Urban League history.



Guests can expect an elevated evening filled with powerful moments, incredible energy, live entertainment, scholarship celebrations, storytelling, community impact, and a packed dance floor.


The 2026 Empowerment Gala will feature a special live performance by Grammy-nominated R&B sensation Amerie, whose music helped define an era while continuing to resonate across generations.




The night will also feature Philadelphia’s own DJ Aktive keeping the energy high throughout the evening with a celebration that moves from inspiration to pure joy.




One of the most meaningful moments of the night will be the celebration of 27 graduating high school seniors receiving $5,000 scholarships through the Urban League’s Community Scholarship Program. These students represent the future of Greater Philadelphia, and the evening will honor not only their academic achievement, but their resilience, leadership, creativity, and potential.


As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this year’s gala feels especially significant. At a moment when conversations around equity, justice, democracy, representation, and opportunity continue shaping the future of our communities, the Empowerment Gala will serve as both a celebration and a reminder of the collective power that exists when communities come together intentionally.


From elegant fashion and live music to emotional storytelling and community recognition, the Empowerment Gala continues to be one of the Urban League’s signature moments of the year.
