4.9 Million in Contracts.
In 2023, the Entrepreneurship Center (ULEC) provided training, coaching, and technical assistance to ensure small firms followed a path of economic growth. The work paid off. We serviced 535 aspiring and experienced business owners who obtained $4.9 million in contracts and $2.6 million in financing. Our clients created 61 jobs and started 12 new businesses. With the support of the PepsiCo Foundation, ULEC runs the Black Restaurant Accelerator Program (BRAP); we awarded $10,000 cash grants to eight restaurants and caterers. Through a partnership with Courvoisier, we held a pitch competition and awarded $55,000 to four businesses. Moreover, with the support of the Office Depot Foundation, ULEC offered individualized coaching and $5,000 cash grants to six entrepreneurs. Finally, we kicked off our 90-Day Business Launch Challenge, with the support of the CapitalOne Foundation, offering intensive training to new business owners. We gave seven firms $1,000 start-up grants.
