Celebrating the 2026 Community Scholars



This month, the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia proudly celebrates the recipients of the 2026 Community Scholarship Program. This year, we are honored to award 27 graduating high school seniors with $5,000 scholarships to support their college education and future aspirations.


Meet our Class of 2016 Scholars:



The Community Scholarship Program is one of the Urban League’s most meaningful annual investments in the next generation of leaders, creators, advocates, entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare professionals, and change makers across Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey.


For many students and families, the transition to college comes with both excitement and financial uncertainty. Rising tuition costs, housing expenses, transportation needs, books, technology requirements, and everyday living expenses continue creating significant barriers for students pursuing higher education. The Urban League believes every student deserves access to opportunity regardless of zip code, financial circumstances, or systemic barriers.


These scholarships are not simply financial awards. They are investments in possibility.Our Community Scholars represent extraordinary resilience, leadership, academic achievement, creativity, service, and determination. Many of these students have balanced academics while supporting family responsibilities, navigating personal challenges, participating in community service, working jobs, or advocating for their schools and neighborhoods.

The Community Scholarship Program exists because of the generosity of donors, sponsors, community leaders, and supporters who believe deeply in educational equity and long-term community investment.


Scholarship recipients will also be connected to broader Urban League opportunities and resources that support long-term success, including:

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Mentorship and networking access

  • Leadership development

  • Workforce readiness resources

  • Internship and career pathway exposure

  • Community engagement opportunities


At a time when many young people are navigating increasing mental health challenges, educational pressures, and economic uncertainty, programs like the Community Scholarship Program remind students that their communities believe in them.


We are incredibly proud to celebrate the Class of 2026 Community Scholars and look forward to witnessing the impact they will make in the world.
