At the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to rewrite their story. Through our nationally recognized OUT4GOOD Reentry Program, we continue to demonstrate that successful reentry is possible when individuals are equipped with the right support, meaningful opportunities, and a team that refuses to let them fail.
The impact, by the numbers
Since launching the program, more than 755 justice-involved individuals have enrolled in OUT4GOOD, with 730 successfully completing the program. Most importantly, 648 participants have secured employment, representing an employment placement rate of nearly 86%. Our long-term outcomes are even more encouraging: 98% of our graduates have avoided returning to incarceration, while 83% remain employed one year after placement. These numbers are more than statistics, they represent fathers reunited with their children, mothers rebuilding their families, individuals overcoming addiction, and community members rediscovering purpose.
A holistic approach
Our approach is intentionally holistic. OUT4GOOD provides workforce development, cognitive behavioral interventions, case management, financial literacy, life-skills training, employer engagement, supportive services, and individualized coaching. We recognize that sustainable employment is only one piece of successful reentry. Lasting success also requires healing from trauma, overcoming addiction, rebuilding confidence, restoring relationships, and helping individuals replace hopelessness with hope.
Behind every milestone is an exceptional team
Samantha Donahue continues to exemplify compassion, professionalism, and servant leadership. She consistently meets participants where they are while challenging them to become who they are capable of being. Her commitment to advocacy, accountability, and individualized support has helped countless men and women overcome barriers that once seemed impossible. Samantha's work reminds our participants that someone genuinely believes in their future.
Kenia Murray has become an invaluable member of the OUT4GOOD team through her unwavering dedication, attention to detail, and genuine passion for helping others succeed. Whether coordinating services, supporting participants through difficult transitions, or ensuring no individual falls through the cracks, Kenia approaches every day with excellence and purpose. Her commitment reflects the very heart of the Urban League's mission of empowerment and equity.
Together, Samantha and Kenia represent what makes the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia different. They understand that reentry is not simply about helping someone leave jail or prison, it is about ensuring they never have to return. Their work helps individuals break free from cycles of incarceration, addiction, hopelessness, and generational trauma while building lives marked by stability, responsibility, and hope.
A steadfast commitment
As we continue to expand our partnerships with employers, courts, correctional institutions, community organizations, and government agencies, our commitment remains steadfast: to create pathways to opportunity for every justice-involved individual willing to invest in a better future.
At the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia, we measure success not only by jobs obtained or certificates earned, but by lives transformed, families restored, and communities made stronger.
Because every successful reentry is more than a second chance, it is a new beginning.
