Women’s History Month centers the leadership, resilience, and labor of women who continue to shape our workforce, economy, and communities. It also invites us to examine how education and workforce systems can better support women’s advancement and economic mobility.
Ready2Work is the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia’s workforce development program designed to equip young adults with the tools necessary for long-term career success. Through career readiness training, digital skills development, professional coaching, and direct connections to employers, Ready2Work creates pathways to employment and continued education for participants across the region.
Since 2023, 167 participants have completed the program, with women representing 56 percent of those served. Among participants with reported outcomes, 92 percent secured employment, continued their education, or advanced into additional training pathways.
Graduates have entered roles across industries including healthcare, technology, operations, and customer service, reflecting meaningful forward movement in career mobility and opportunity. Participants have also earned a range of industry-recognized credentials that strengthen their competitiveness in today’s workforce. These include NorthStar Digital Literacy certifications, Data Analytics credentials, Professional Scrum Master certifications, and CompTIA Tech+ IT Fundamentals.
These outcomes represent more than job placement. They reflect expanded access to education, exposure to new and emerging industries, increased confidence, and the development of professional networks that support long-term growth.
When women gain access to meaningful career pathways and opportunities for advancement, the impact extends far beyond individual success. Women’s workforce participation strengthens families, supports community stability, and contributes to a more equitable and resilient regional economy.
As the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia continues to invest in workforce development, programs like Ready2Work remain focused on expanding access to training, resources, and employer partnerships that empower women to build sustainable careers and achieve lasting economic mobility across Greater Philadelphia.
