EVENT ALERT

Date: February 22, 2026
Location: African American Museum in Philadelphia
Time: 2 PM - 5 PM
Everyday Freedom Heroes is a dynamic, child-centered program in which students will dress as community leaders and historical figures—past and present—who exemplify heroism through everyday acts of courage, resistance, and cultural preservation. This activity encourages children to express creativity and historical appreciation through costume, spoken word, and performance, transforming the day into a living museum experience.
As a special component of this program, we will issue a call for posters, inviting children to illustrate how they embody the spirit of an “Everyday Freedom Hero” in their own lives—whether in the classroom, at home, or on the playground. Students will be encouraged to showcase examples of positive decision-making, kindness, leadership, and ways they actively de-escalate conflict.
The goal of this initiative aligns with our anti-bullying campaign and broader educational mission: to help children recognize themselves as change agents, capable of making meaningful, ethical choices and contributing positively to their communities in all aspects of their young lives.
