Lead Better, Communicate Stronger: The Verizon Skills Forward Leadership Pathway
Technical skills get you in the door. Leadership and communication skills move you up. This fall, the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia is offering both through the ULGP x Verizon Skills Forward Leadership and Communication Pathway.
What the pathway includes
The pathway brings together three curated leadership and communication courses, including two courses from Harvard University, delivered online through edX and Verizon Skills Forward. It is designed to take about 32 to 48 hours over two months, so it fits around a job, a class schedule, or both.
Participants who complete the pathway earn:
Individual edX and Verizon Skills Forward course certificates
A Professional Certificate in Leadership and Communication from the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia
A shareable digital badge for LinkedIn and your resume
Access to professional development opportunities through the Workforce team
Two ways to participate
There are two tracks, one for the general public and one for students currently enrolled in a community college. Both are free to participants.
General public: Interest form for the general public
Community college students: Interest form for community college students
Proof it works
Verizon Skills Forward is already part of the department's digital literacy engine. This past year, 185 Google AI Essentials certifications were earned by job seekers, interns, and staff through the department's Verizon Skills Forward and Google AI programming, and roughly 90 percent of this summer's college interns completed Google AI Essentials and put it to work immediately in resumes, interviews, and presentations.
Ready to add leadership to your credentials? Fill out the interest form for your track, and the Workforce team will follow up with next steps.
