Housing Counselor
The Housing Counselor delivers a broad range of housing counseling services including credit assessment, financial education, and support for home retention. This role involves conducting intake evaluations, supporting clients through homebuying, foreclosure, or eviction diversion processes, and connecting them with appropriate resources. The Housing Counselor must be bilingual. They will perform data tracking, attends community workshops, and engages directly with lenders, attorneys, and service providers to meet client needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-
Conduct comprehensive client intake, including credit, income, and savings reviews.

Provide one-on-one housing counseling for homebuyers, homeowners, and renters.

Attend and support clients at foreclosure and eviction diversion hearings.

Maintain accurate documentation and follow-ups using case management systems.

Participate in community workshops and promotional outreach activities.

Collaborate with financial institutions and housing service partners.

Meet certification requirements and stay informed on housing law and program changes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

HUD Certification
-
National certification in at least one area: Pre-Purchase Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, or Financial Capacity.

Minimum high school diploma required; post-secondary education preferred.

At least 3 years of housing counseling experience preferred.

Fluent in Spanish and English
REQUIREMENTS

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat).

Familiarity with case management platforms such as CounselorMax and RX Office.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage time and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to attend evening or weekend events and conduct minimal out-of-state travel.

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally for workshops or outreach events
