In 2003, the Urban League of Philadelphia collected $12,000 and awarded college scholarships to six high school seniors.
At the 2015 Empowerment Legacy Gala, ULP was proud to award $145,000 to 73 college bound students.
Our program has expanded, and we offer a limited number of four-year scholarships and other scholarships for upper classmen to help them complete their education.
In addition to our scholarships, the ULP offers programs to help the Community Scholars prepare for life on campus and develop the financial planning skills that will enable them to complete college and begin their careers on a sound economic footing.
Our College Internship Fair, launched in January 2014, provided students with the opportunity to connect with some of the region’s top employers and apply for career-oriented internships. These employers – including TD Bank, Independence Blue Cross, Comcast and the Federal Reserve Bank – are seeking high performing minority students to recruit for their companies.
