| Dialogue on Race
The Dialogue on Race Series is special initiative that fosters informed and
candid conversation about race and race relations in the city, with the
intent of promoting greater inter-group understanding and building bridges
that can lead to a reduction in disparities between and among many sectors
of Philadelphia's multi-cultural and multi-racial population. Project
partners include Leadership Philadelphia, City of Philadelphia's Mural Arts
Program, Congresso de Latinos Unidos and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Dialogue on Race Series has two components:
- The BRIDGE Project
The Urban League of Philadelphia has partnered with two recognized and
accomplished nonprofits, The Mural Arts Program and LEADERSHIP Philadelphia,
to host facilitated discussions on race. The outcome of these discussions
will be a mural depicting a lasting image on non-threatening, supportive
racial relations to be displayed in Philadelphia. The BRIDGE Project
participants include alumni of the Urban League's Urban Leadership Forum and
LEADERSHIP Philadelphia, plus a cross-section of the city's community
leaders and youth - 100 individuals in all.
- Community Conversations
In partnership with Congresso de Unidos Latinos and the Philadelphia
Inquirer, the Urban League of Philadelphia examines the historical and
emerging relationships between Latinos and African Americans with candid
conversations
