College Scholarships – NEW APPLICATION DEADLINE April 11th. In amounts ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, scholarships are given annually to high school seniors and college students to assist in their pursuit of higher education. Young Urban Leaders (YUL)- APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 14th - We're looking for 25 students, grades 9 through 11 from Philadelphia-area schools, who have a strong desire for personal achievement, self improvement and community service. For more information, download an application here.
Microsoft’s Making the Business: Youth IT Challenge – This national program was designed to engage children in the development of an original business idea, which leverages technology as its base. The think-tank competition helps students generate discussion about technology; learn how technology can be used to create a business and a sellable business plan.
National Urban League Incentive to Excel and Succeed (NULITES) – Founded in 1989, it is the longest ongoing Urban League youth initiative and is designed to reflect the positive aspects of youth in today's society while providing opportunities for personal and leadership development through structured activities, educational seminars and community service projects.
The Behind the Business Tour (BBT) is a summer program for today’s youth to learn about the inner workings of America’s leading corporations including Boeing, Aramark, ClearChannel Radio and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Read & Rise Program – In partnership with Scholastic, Inc. and the National Urban League, this program focuses on early childhood literacy. With provided guidelines and activities, interested parents and teachers encourage and motivate their children to read. This year, we distributed over 500 books to children throughout the region.
