Urban League Career Center - The Career Center offers a variety of services for the jobseeker including seminars, individual career consultations, career aptitude testing, career search library tools, mock interview video taping and access to job postings. The newly upgraded Career Center provides job seekers with a state of the art computer lab to assist with their search. Our target participants include the unemployed, the under-employed and ex-offenders.
National Employment Network - The National Employment Network is an online database devoted to employee sourcing for companies and employment opportunities for African-Americans and other people of color. We make it easy for employers to recruit and hire, and for job seekers to post resumes and search jobs. The unique aspect of the career center is that it leverages our national brand and over 65 affiliates to reach thousands of candidates across the country. Diversity Career Fairs - As the area’s leading source of employment opportunities for minorities, the Urban League of Philadelphia is committed to diversity and is dedicated to increasing opportunities for African Americans and other people of color through career fairs.
Connect to Work is a special workforce development program that is a joint venture between the Honickman Learning Center & Comcast Technology Labs and The Urban League of Philadelphia. Supported by a grant from the Comcast Corporation, we train adults for call center customer service roles. Upon completion of the course, we will work with participants to assist with their job search.
Employment Seminars for Local Hurricane Katrina Survivors - This is a special series of seminars tailored for Hurricane Katrina evacuees who now reside in the Philadelphia region. The seminars are offered monthly and cover topics such as The Current Job Market, How to Find a Job, Writing a Resume, and Interview Preparation. The seminars are supported by a donation from Citizens Bank.
Customized Employment Seminars - As part of our fee-for-service functions, we coordinate and facilitate seminars in accordance with the needs of partner companies who may be seeking to diversify their work force or reach out to a broader pool of candidates.
NUL Empowerment Fund - NUL has developed the Empowerment Fund to provide debt and/or equity funding to small businesses. This program is funded under the Development of the Treasury's New Markets Tax Credit Program. ULP is working to provide this support for our local businesses.
Child Care Information Services (CCIS) – In it's 13th year of administering the subsidized childcare program, this program issued over $21 million dollars in childcare payments on behalf of over 3,500 families, thereby empowering low income working parents to make childcare affordable. CCIS provides information and materials to assist working parents in finding, selecting and paying for childcare. For more information call CCIS at 215-842-4820.

Housing Counseling – Our Housing Department assists individuals seeking relief from foreclosures, sheriff sales and predatory lending. We council renters, homeowners and homebuyers with pre-purchase counseling, fair housing rights information, real estate selection, lending practices, money management, budgeting, credit repair and broker selection. Escrow counseling is available for clients living in substandard housing with licensing and inspection violations. Recognized as one of Philadelphia’s 31 endorsed Housing Agencies, the ULP continues advocacy on behalf of low-income families and makes referrals to government programs.
NUL/HPF Foreclosure Prevention Program - In an effort to address the rising rate of foreclosures in Philadelphia, the ULP is launching a new initiative consisting of homeownership classes and intensive one-on-one counseling.
