Mondays - Career Center Orientation:  How to Find a Job in Philly

What to bring to ALL Career Center programs:

  • A hard copy of your resume
  • A flash drive
  • Two forms of identification (driver's license and Social Security Card)

Cost: free

Orientation give job seekers an overview of  the ULP Career Center and its services. Attending orientation is required  to participate in other Career Center programs, including Job Fairs. Orientation will provide valuable information on conducting a job search.

 

Wednesdays- ULP Resume Review Workshop

Start time:  10 a.m.

Cost:  Free

Requirements: Must have participated in Career Center Orientation.

Learn resume do's and don't's.  Create or update your current resume.  Bring a copy of your old resume, a flash drive and your id.

 

Thursdays - Job Club

Start time:  10 a.m.

Mock Interview Workshops -- The Last Friday of Every Month

Start time:  1 p.m.

Required:  Advance registration and completion of Career Center Orientation

Cost: free

A successful interview is key to landing a job.  Representatives of one of the top talent management companies, Lee Hecht Harrison, conducts these workshops to prepare job hunters with the tools to ace that interview.  Practice answering those tough interview questions.

Free Training Programs

Connect-to-Work is a 6 week training program that is a joint venture between the Project H.O.M.E. Honickman Learning Center & Comcast Technology Labs and The Urban League of Philadelphia. Supported by a grant from the Comcast Corporation, we train adults for call center customer service roles. Upon completion of the course, we will work with participants to assist with their job search. Visit our calendar for open information sessions. Stipends offered.

Free Access to Career Center

Our In-Office Career Center at 121 S. Broad Street (9th floor) offers a variety of services including:

  • A computer lab - it's open from Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 12pm and 2pm - 4pm
  • Access to our "Hot Job" catalog of hundreds of job postings sent to us by premiere local employers
  • Group and individual job search coaching sessions
  • Resume review and mock interviewing
