The State of Black Philadelphia Report features compelling research, data and a weighted analysis that examines persistent disparities between black and white Philadelphians in five critical areas: economics, health, education, civic engagement and social justice.  In addition to the reliable data and research compiled in concert with ULP by international research firm Global Insight, the report provides the reader with a compilation of proactive essays that include facts by some of Philadelphia’s finest minds, whom offer a myriad of recommendations to close the equality gaps that exist some 43 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The timely release of The State of Black Philadelphia Report will inform, engage and motivate all Philadelphians to play a more proactive role in improving the greater Philadelphia community, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion and socioeconomic level.  As eloquently articulated by Dr. Martin Luther King in his provocative letter from a Birmingham Jail, “We are caught in an inextricable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
