Message from the Board Chairman
The Urban League of Philadelphia was originally founded to combat the injustices faced by African Americans as they migrated and settled in our area. This commitment to advocacy for those in need continues today. I am excited about the possibilities and opportunities that are before the Urban League of Philadelphia in 2005.
We will continue to collaborate with area businesses and other entities that share our vision and values. Together, we will create and sustain programs and services that further our mission in the areas of economic development, employment, housing, education and health and wellness issues. These community empowerment initiatives will have a positive impact on the disadvantaged and other people of need.
In addition, the Urban League of Philadelphia will carry on our work to better the lives for African Americans and other minorities within our community by enhancing the four cornerstones of our social enterprise – professional excellence, economic empowerment, civil rights advocacy, and business and community leadership.
As a long time member of the Urban League of Philadelphia, I am proud of what we have accomplished, and I look forward to continuing this work on behalf of the less fortunate. If you are not yet a member of the Urban League of Philadelphia, I invite you to join us. Your support of our efforts truly makes a positive difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for your interest and your support of the Urban League of Philadelphia.
